The Wrapping Arms ‘Round Many (WARM) program is a partnership between the St. Mary's County faith community and local human service agencies to provide safe shelter and hot meals to unhoused men, women and children during the coldest months of the year. The first WARM season took place in October 2009 and has become very successful with over 50 churches currently working together to provide food and shelter.
This year’s WARM program runs Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024 - Monday, March 27, 2025. IHM will host on the week of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Sunday, January 19 to Sunday, January 26).
Each congregation provides shelter, breakfast and dinner to between 20 and 35 people for one week, beginning with dinner on Sunday and ending with breakfast the following Sunday. The program provides bedding for the week. Participants are screened at a designated site and bused to the church each evening. They depart after breakfast each day.
We need volunteers to serve at monitors for three shifts each night (we need 3 monitors per shift: one male, one female and one additional of either sex).
We also need volunteers to prepare and serve breakfast and dinner for each day. We will let you know the expected numbers at the beginning of the week.
If you are homeless and wishing to enter the program, please contact Social Services at 240-895-7000. All clients wishing to enter the WARM program must process through Social Services. Please do NOT contact IHM for entrance into the WARM program. You must go through Social Services at the phone number above.
